🌾Cheerful Giving: Tithing, Gleaning & Gifting
A Biblical Approach to Community Stewardship

Join us in honoring YEƲE with a cheerful heart through Tithing, Gleaning, and Gifting!

We want to make this clear. We are NOT a mandatory-tithing ministry. We Do Not believe that members should be pressured, coerced, or required to give a predetermined amount.

Rather, we believe giving should come freely from the heart and according to each person’s ability, conscience, and willingness.

At the same time, we recognize that we are more than individuals—we are a community, a village, and a culture of people.

As a Family of YEƲE, we have a responsibility to care for one another, to help those in need, and to share what we have been blessed to receive.

Our giving may take many forms:

💰 Financial gifts
🍎 Food and household necessities
👕 Clothing and other material goods
🏠 In-kind assistance
🤝🏾 Volunteer service
🛠️ Time, skills, and talents
🙏🏾 Prayer and spiritual support

Matthew 25:35–40 — “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…”

The heart of Biblical giving is not merely collecting money—it is meeting needs, sharing abundance, showing mercy, and caring for the community.

🌾 Tithing — Devoting a Portion

The Scriptures establish the principle of setting apart a portion of what one has received. Leviticus 27:30–32 provides the Biblical foundation for the tithe.

For us, however, giving is not presented as a mandatory financial burden placed upon every member. We encourage people to give according to their circumstances and conscience, with a willing heart.

🌿 Gleaning — Sharing the Abundance

The Biblical principle of gleaning, illustrated in Ruth 2, teaches us that those who have abundance should intentionally leave room for others to receive.

Gleaning can extend beyond crops. In our community, it can mean sharing surplus food, clothing, household goods, resources, professional skills, or other blessings with someone who has need.

🎁 Gifting — Giving Joyfully

The Widow’s Offering in Mark 12:41–44 reminds us that the value of a gift is not measured merely by its monetary amount. What matters is the heart behind the giving. We therefore encourage joyful, willing, and sacrificial generosity, whether the gift is large or small.

❤️ The Principle: Give From the Heart

The New Testament emphasizes willing generosity rather than compulsion:

2 Corinthians 9:7 — “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for YEƲE loveth a cheerful giver.”

This principle is central to our understanding of community stewardship. We do not give because we are forced to give. We give because we have been blessed and because we desire to bless others.

🏘️ The Ancient Model of Community

The early Assembly demonstrated a powerful model of communal care.

Acts 2:44–45 — “And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.”

Likewise:

Acts 4:34–35 — “Neither was there any among them that lacked... and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.”

This illustrates the heart of our ministry: the community gives so that the community can care for those who have need.

Our goal is not simply to raise funds. Our goal is to build a culture in which people willingly share their blessings so that fewer people are left without what they need.

🙌🏿 Give Without Seeking Recognition

Yesu also taught that charitable giving should not become a means of seeking recognition or praise from others.

Matthew 6:1–4 teaches that giving to those in need should be done with humility and sincerity, with the Father seeing what is done in secret.

Therefore, we encourage giving that is motivated by love rather than recognition, compassion rather than obligation, and service rather than status.

👑 The Children Are Free

As Yesu pointed out to Peter concerning tribute: Matthew 17:24–26 (KJV)

“And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Yesu prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Yesu saith unto him, Then are the children free.”

We understand this passage as emphasizing an important principle: the children are free.

Therefore, our ministry does not seek to place people under financial bondage or make their standing within the Assembly dependent upon their ability to give.

We are the Children of YEƲE.

Our giving is therefore an expression of gratitude, love, stewardship, and community responsibility—not a purchase of salvation, membership, blessing, or spiritual status.
